As everyone has different ways of processing information through, hearing, seeing or touching. We are prone to have a dominant learning style which allow us to process information most effectively. Thus by a VAK test, learning about our dominant learning style or rather preference, we are able to strengthen our information processing of receiving and storage which then maximize our learning opportunities and capabilities.
Visual
- Visual learners are usually more able to learn when they read and write down what they see, by using sight as a dominant learning sense, visual materials like charts, videos or diagrams would be most beneficial for visual learners.Methods of Assessing
- Provide charts, diagrams, videos, illustrations
- Provide handouts with plenty of content
- Post questions to maintain attention
- Emphasize key points to allow them to take note of
- Allow them to use texts and illustration stogether
- Audio learners are usually more able to learn when they listen to a speaker or when they read aloud to themselves, as audio learners use their sense of hearing, tape audio records or reading aloud would be most beneficial for audio learners.
Methods of Assessing
- Encourage them to audio record what was taught
- Incorparate more stories and examples
- Encourage them to verbalize their questions
- Provide more brainstorming and sharing sessions
- Verbally tell them the objectives and overview
Kinesthetics
- Kinesthetics learner are usually more able to learn through touching or moving around, as kinesthetics learner use their sense of touch, having stimulation while learning would be most beneficial for kinesthetics learners.
Methods of Assessing
- Plan more activities to move around
- Encourage usage of different stationaries
- Give them stress balls or play dough to keep their hands busy
- Allow them to stretch after a period of time
- Give the environment a change by playing music at appropriate timings.
